WATCHING
television and reading history books today make me question my own sanity. On
television I watch news upon news about refugee crisis. Most of the refugees
are coming from middle-eastern countries such as Syria, Egypt, Iraq, and etc
who face so much threat in their own countries that force them to seek for a
safer place. It just happens that Europe is the safest place by far that fits
their definition of safe. The crisis occurred due to the fact that most of
European countries reject their existence. As a result, they are made to run
like animals who do not deserve any help. Some overtly do it, others pretend
want to help but behind the scene they try their best not to let them in too much. One of the reasons that come to the
surface was they are afraid that "this tsunami of refugees will islamise
the continent."
History books
that I read happen to have tight relationship with the era where 'colonization'
has its fame. The history books I read proudly show how great Europeans were;
it could be seen through their ability to colonize and exploit all the other
four continents: America, Africa, Asia and Australia. The way histories told
were very proud, as if colonizing and exploiting those continents were fine and
totally normal. Begging for help, however, is seen for something unacceptable.
Even though if we could try see deeper those refugees just desperately want
some help. And if Europeans were willing to open up their hearts to help, it
actually would not be a big favor at all. We could even see it as giving back
what they had taken in the past. It is so funny how universe works. No matter
how inhuman you took others' possessions away, universe will always try to give
it back through unexpected way. That of course was not the reason why refugees
flooding Europe. They do that naturally because they have too. Otherwise they
will have to compromise other possibility, DEATH.
On other channel,
I came across a news about organizations that claims themselves as the ones who
maintain peace in the world, or that is what they were built for from the first
place. And one of the sentence I needed to quote from the spoke person of that
organization is "we have to see the world as a no border place. Especially
when it comes to the idea of helping others who need help." Here we are
witnessing the reality show where hundreds and thousands people beg for help
but we raise our hands up saying "NO! THANK YOU"
